Frequently Asked Questions
I Need Help Getting Started!
No problem-- read our Getting Started Guide.
What does this site actually do?
Episode Feed makes your life easier by allowing you to keep track of currently-running TV shows you like. You tell it what shows to track, and the site gives you a custom-URL to an RSS feed (with torrent links, usually "magnet" links) containing only your selected shows. The feed can then be viewed directly in a browser, or loaded into a number of RSS Readers or BitTorrent programs, like qBittorrent, which will automatically download new episodes of your shows as soon as they become available. Read our Terms of Service to make sure you act within all applicable copyright laws.
What BitTorrent client can you recommend?
Personally, we like qBittorrent. It's open-source, with no ads, and is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is also tested directly with the RSS feeds this site produces and is known to work correctly. That said, there are other BitTorrent clients out there, and any number of them would probably work just fine. See the Getting Started Guide for special settings you might need to enable.
Is the concept of this site completely original?
No. This site is meant to be a love-letter to ShowRSS, which provided a similar service. This site was created for two main reasons: (1) To expand and add features that ShowRSS lacked, and (2) to provide another similar service, as ShowRSS appears as if it is no longer being maintained.
Why are you begging for donations? I hate spending money!
Believe me, we understand! But the truth of the matter is that it can cost a lot of money to run a web application like this one. From server costs, to bandwidth, to API rates, and of course just the human-time it takes to keep the site running smoothly. Any donation you can give is greatly appreciated!
All that said, you don't have to donate at all! The site is fully functional to you in either event.
Should I use a VPN?
Yes. Coorporations and malicious actors can monitor your activity online (usually for the purposes of selling you junk). Most reputable sources all recommend the use of a VPN (eg, NordVPN, Tunnel Bear, Express VPN, etc) to maintain your privacy online. We are not sponsored by any VPN provider; do your research before signing up for anything. Most offer a free trial period.
